2019 Golden Globes
Last Sunday, Regina King won her first Golden Globes award and stunned the crowd away in a strapless rose gold dress created by Alberta Ferretti. Such impeccable details make up the beauty of this dress including the clearly visible and shiny unique embellishments. Besides her stunning dress, the way she carried herself and used her platform left a mark at this cinematic art awards show.
In her acceptance speech, she vowed that in everything she produces, she will ensure that it embraces at least 50% women. She encourages others in not just the entertainment industry, but in all industries to make a committed effort in involving women. I love how a successful woman of color with a position of power is taking a stand for the good… leading people and being a voice for others. If you gain the opportunity of maintaining a platform, utilize it for virtue to make an impact. Make a change that matters to you, a positive change that you wish to see in the world, and then build on it. You can also look your best while bringing about change in the society. Carrying yourself in a positive limelight involves looking your best, being the best version of yourself as you can be, and voicing your views. The power of having a platform is everything. How you utilize your platform to voice your perspective and illustrating your actions determines the influence you will have on society.
Ahhh, Ms. King is super brave and is executing true leadership skills in her platform. I cannot wait to see her promises be put into action. After the recent election, you can acknowledge that progress continues to improve for women and people are truly putting in the determination and work to bring about change in all industries. If men can do it, women can do it too, ESPECIALLY IN HEELS! It does not matter if you do not fall with the average. Everyone is unique and made with a voice AND IT SHOULD BE HEARD. Women are using their power to make a difference, people of color are using their power to make a difference, and that’s all that matters!!
